As you know, I had been in negotiations two other times, before I decided to contract Graybeards/Davis Group. Both previous negotiations ended badly when I was unable to assure some sort of long-term security for our employees, many of which have been with us for 25+ years. Consequently, I wasted nearly two years and thousands of dollars in efforts that failed. Then I called you.

You immediately found multiple interested parties and helped me to decide the best option. In this process I also found that I had been negotiating at 60-65% of the true value of our company. Of course the prospective buyers never volunteered this information. Not once did I hear them say, “By the way, our offer is way below your real company value.”

More important than your making sure I got the right price, you made sure that it was going to be a good fit for our dealers and employees. By putting us with Quick Response, a local company, you assured that most of our employees would remain working and the changes for our dealers would be minimal. In addition, this enables me to remain for a few more years, until I want to retire. None of these would have occurred with my previous negotiations. Then, after finding the right fit, you spent countless days (and nights) working with Quick Response, the attorneys and me, to make sure it would be a successful deal for all parties concerned. It is!

I apologize, if I got a little too narrative in this letter. I just wanted to make sure you understood how much I appreciate all of your efforts. If anyone ever questions why he or she should contract with Graybeards, have them call me. If they have an hour I will give them the list.

Wall Street can’t understand why large corporations attempting to consolidate this industry on a national scale just don’t seem to succeed in the U.S. as they have in other industries and in the alarm industry abroad. At the grass roots level in North America, independent dealers just seem to persistently succeed in beating the large corporations at the business of finding and satisfying customers. One answer to why this is so is Ron Davis.

For more than 25 years, we have seen Mr. Davis creatively applying the best theories and practice of marketing and management to our industry and making the results available to everyone. Even those who have never met him have, nevertheless, benefited indirectly from his work when they adopted some practice they observed in another company but which actually originated with Ron.
