Habitec makes Central Ohio acquisition

Long Grove, IL May 15, 2008 — Following in his father’s footsteps, John Smythe, whose father, Jim, passed away recently, is continuing the growth cycle at Habitec Security, Toledo, Ohio.

With the help of Katie Bally, partner at Davis Marketing Group, Inc., Habitec acquired the accounts and business of Barnhart Security of Zanesville, Ohio.

The company, owned by Sharon and Dan Barnhart, was acquired on May 15, 2008.  Representing the buyer was John Smythe and representing the seller was Katie Bally.

The Barnharts are retiring to Florida and were primarily interested in the care and quality of service their customers would receive.  After visiting Habitec’s Columbus office, meeting John Smythe and other employees of Habitec, they were assured of not only a quality transition, but also a quality care support system for their former customers.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed, but Dan Barnhart had this to say: “In Habitec we found a quality company with a high regard for service provided to its customers.  We were pleased with the transaction and the way our customers and we were handled. “
